1A Freestyles
Format:
One 2-minute freestyle will be performed an scored based on the following categories: style (up to 60 points), rarity (up to 20 points), and music points (up to 20 points).
There is also the possibility for a 1-minute preliminary round freestyle if the number of contestants exceeds 15. This is not likely, but may happen, so be prepared. You are allowed to use the first minute of your 2-minute freestyle if that is needed.
Preliminary Round:
The Preliminary Round will only be used if needed. "Needed" means, if there are 15+ contestants registered. If a Preliminary Round does happen, it will be a 1-minute freestyle. Be prepared for both a 1- and 2- minute freestyles just in case. If you are unable to think of some other performance, you may definitely use the first minute of your 2-minute freestyle.
Also, if a Preliminary Round happens, the top [see listing below] will make it to the final.
Prelim Qualification Chart:
15-19 Contestants: 8 qualify
20-24 Contestants: 10 qualify
25+ Contestants: 12 qualify
Final Round:
The Final Round will be 2-minute freestyle. The contestants in the Final Round will be decided a day or two before the contest (so will the order). If there is a Preliminary Round, the qualified contestants will make the Final Round. If there is no Preliminary Round, all contestants will compete in the Finals. If you need to, you may add onto your 1-minute prelim performance if needed.
Rules:
1. All contestants must be registered three days before the contest so I can get the schedule ready.
2. If the date changes, registration will not reopen, but emails will be sent out to all of you who will be competing so you all can come the right day.
3. You will be scored using three categories: 1) Style/skill (up to 60 points), 2) Rarity (up to 20 points), and 3) Music points (up to 20 points). For more information, see below about "Scoring."
4. You may use any yoyo of your choice
5. You may do any tricks of your choice (as long as they belong to the 1A style [see rule #6)]
6. No tricks can be performed that are not in the 1A style. You will automatically lose 20 points after your score has been counted.
7. Contest may be moved inside (if contest does happen to be outside) if weather conditions (rain, heavy wind, etc.)
If you know of any more rules that should be included, please mention it in a Contact Us message. Thank you.
Scoring System:
Style/skill: This is the basic scoring category. Our judge(s) will give you up to 60 points for this category. For getting points, we will be watching your skill and your style and give you your score basing it on how cool, smooth, stylish, etc. your performance is. So it would be good if you can get your tricks down as good as you possibly can get them.
Rarity: Our Judge(s) will also be looking for rare elements that he/she has never seen before. This category also includes using elements that could be rated as really hard. Up to 20 points are at stake for this category.
Music Points: Another 20 points can be given depending on how well you yoyo to your music. This is very easily, just pick the right music and speed up or slow down your tricks to fit the music. Hops are good tricks to match the beat of music too (just a hint).
Deductions:
You may receive deductions for mess-ups in your performance. The following are lists of illegal elements that will result in deductions.
1. Playing a different style then what you registered for - 20 point deduction
2. Yoyo must be restarted - 2 point deduction
3. Yoyo must be rewound - 5 point deduction
4. Yoyo trick or stunt puts judges in danger in any way - 10 point deduction
If you know of any more deductions that should be included, please mention it in a Contact Us message. Thank you.
